In 1998, Michel Parmigiani developed his first watch movement: a shaped movement for a shaped watch. From the brand's inception, consistency between the contents and the container, between the mechanical heart and the exterior aesthetics, was a key principle of its authenticity. The new Kalpa Hebdomadaire pays tribute to the desire of its founder, Michel Parmigiani, and to the history of the Kalpa.

The "tonneau" shape, unusual and remarkable

The shape of the Kalpa Hebdomadaire case is the classic "tonneau", one of the first designs that Michel Parmigiani created for his brand. This form is based on the application of the golden ratio, a geometrical reference which provides a harmonious ratio of proportions. The case and its teardrop-shaped lugs, the angle of which has been carefully calculated to describe a perfect curve, sit ergonomically on the wrist.

An 8-day power reserve

Developed by Michel Parmigiani in 1998 and honoured with an innovation award the following year, the hand-wound calibre PF110 is characterised by its impressive eight-day power reserve. This is made possible by the two series-mounted barrels, which stabilise the distribution of energy to the regulator and increase the watch's autonomy.

A Kalpa watch with a contemporary and dynamic design

With balance, comfort and readability as their watchwords, the designers at Parmigiani Fleurier worked intently on the Kalpa to introduce a touch of modernity while at the same time respecting the original harmony of its proportions and aesthetic codes. The tonneau case, whose ergonomic shape is known for its perfect fit on the wrist, features bolder, more modern curves that enhance the piece's dynamism.

Hand-wound, power reserve movement

The calibre PF110, which is particularly symbolic for Parmigiani Fleurier, features the hours, minutes, small seconds at 6 o'clock, date and power reserve indicator. In keeping with the other new-generation Kalpa watches, the refined design features of its mechanism – ‘Côtes de Genève’ pattern, bevelled bridges and circular-graining – are exposed through a sapphire case-back, with the wide tonneau opening revealing its seamless integration with the case. It oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations/hour (3 Hz) and is characterised by its impressive 8-day power reserve.
