Unveiled in 2008, the Tonda Tourbillon gave Parmigiani an opportunity to introduce its 30-second tourbillon, a world first produced entirely within the watchmaking centre.
Rotating twice per minute rather than once, this tourbillon doubles the power of the gravity compensating force.
The hand-wound movement has a double barrel mounted in series, giving it a power reserve of one week, a rare feat for a complication such as this. The movement bridges are hand-bevelled and each surface is decorated in line with the very finest Haute Horlogerie standards. The mechanical spectacle played out on the back of the piece, from which the tourbillon can also be admired, is extraordinarily beautiful.
The Tonda Tourbillon marries technical prowess with classic elegance. The rose gold case is paired with a gilt dial – two warm tones enhanced by the play of light on the Côtes de Genève decoration. The platinum case is twinned with an anthracite dial. Each model is a limited edition of 100 pieces with individual numbers engraved on the case.
