HIJRI PERPETUAL CALENDAR
The Tonda PF Hijri Perpetual Calendar is a horological expression of the Tabular Islamic calendar developed by Muslim scholars and astronomers in the 8th century. This system made it possible for historians to convert Islamic dates to Gregorian dates, which in turn has made the Hijri Perpetual Calendar possible. The first year of the Hijri calendar corresponds to the year 622 CE and is marked by the Prophet Muhammad’s Hijrah (Arabic for “migration”) from Mecca to Medina in what is today Saudi Arabia.

XIALI COMPLETE CALENDAR
The highly complex Chinese calendar is a combination of a solar and a lunar calendar, calculated separately and then synchronized. This is done by adding an extra lunar month, also called a leap or intercalary month. This 13th month is added approximately every three years to bring the two cycles back in sync. Finally, the Chinese calendar divides the solar year into 24 terms, or breaths, which symbolize the agricultural calendar.

GREGORIAN ANNUAL CALENDAR
The TONDA PF Gregorian Annual Calendar tells the story of Michel Parmigiani’s passion for dates, honored by the Calibre PF339 movement, which was specially developed by the Manufacture and houses a retrograde Gregorian calendar and a precision moonphase.
Together, these two complications compose the TONDA PF Gregorian Annual Calendar: a timepiece resolutely geared towards astronomy that reproduces Earth’s revolutions around the sun and in relation to the moon.
