A CONTEMPORARY
WORK OF ART IN MOTION

Within Parmigiani Fleurier, skeletonization is not an exercise in displaying complexity, but a discipline of reduction.

Material is carefully removed to reveal structure. The movement is opened to expose its underlying coherence, while light moves freely through an architecture whose balance remains intact.

Here, emptiness is never absence. It creates rhythm, tension and depth, allowing light to shape what matter has relinquished.

The TONDA PF Skeleton Rose Gold Milano Blue is conceived for collectors drawn to pure architecture and objects defined not by ornament, but by the subtle interplay of material, light and space.

MILANO BLUE:
COLOUR AS SPACE

Within the openworked architecture, Milano Blue extends beyond colour. Set against the warmth of rose gold, its deep, almost nocturnal tone brings depth, contrast and a contemporary tension to the movement.

Alternating sandblasted and satin-finished surfaces enhance this interplay of light and structure, while delta-shaped hands and rose gold indices appear suspended within the composition.

The 40 mm case in 18-carat rose gold is framed by Parmigiani Fleurier’s signature knurled bezel. Its polished and satin-finished surfaces, together with the sapphire case back, reveal changing perspectives across the skeletonised movement. Completed by an integrated rose gold bracelet, the TONDA PF Skeleton Rose Gold Milano Blue invites gradual discovery, where matter gives way to space and mechanics take on an architectural dimension.

FROM STRUCTURE
TO PERCEPTION

At the heart of the timepiece, the calibre PF777 takes on an architectural dimension, where substance and void shape light and reveal the movement in layers.

Developed within the Parmigiani Fleurier Manufacture, this self-winding movement brings together 192 components in a composition designed for both mechanical precision and visual balance.

At just 3.9 mm thick, it operates at 4 Hz and offers a 60-hour power reserve. Its openworked oscillating weight in 22-carat rose gold forms an integral part of the movement’s architecture.

Satin-finished bridges, meticulously bevelled by hand, allow light to move across edges and surfaces, revealing subtle contrasts in texture.

TO REVEAL, ONE MUST FIRST
UNDERSTAND

At Parmigiani Fleurier, openworking begins with understanding.

Rooted in Michel Parmigiani’s culture of restoration, it requires an intimate knowledge of every mechanical relationship before deciding what may be removed and what must remain.

ROOTED IN RESTORATION

Rooted in the traditions of fine watchmaking, skeletonization finds a distinctive expression at Parmigiani Fleurier.

Long before creating timepieces bearing his name, Michel Parmigiani restored some of history’s most sophisticated mechanical objects. This culture of restoration requires first understanding a mechanism, how it is constructed, what may be transformed and what must be preserved.

The same discipline informs the Maison’s approach to openworking today. Each bridge is carefully worked and finished by hand, with every bevel, surface and edge contributing to the clarity of the architecture.

What remains is not simply revealed. It is refined through the gesture of the artisan.

THE DISCIPLINE OF BALANCE

To openwork a calibre is to embrace a delicate equilibrium.

Material must be removed without weakening the structure. The movement must be opened without losing its coherence. Complexity must be revealed without compromising clarity.

Every intervention has consequences. Remove too much and mechanical integrity is compromised; remove too little and the architecture remains concealed.

And subtraction creates another challenge: every opening creates a new edge, every edge another surface to finish, and every surface becomes visible. What appears to be less demands more.

Openworking therefore becomes an exercise in restraint, balancing substance and void, structure and perception.

ONLY WHAT DESERVES TO BE SEEN

The TONDA PF Skeleton does not reveal everything at once.

Every opening allows the eye deeper into the movement, while every remaining structure preserves its rhythm, proportion and integrity.

What emerges is not transparency for its own sake, but a particular understanding of refinement: one in which complexity does not need to announce itself, craftsmanship rewards proximity, and discovery remains personal.

Nothing is revealed without purpose. Nothing is removed without consequence.
