Minute repeater with cathedral chimes
The Toric Quaestor Labyrinth is an edition of 5 exclusive watches with dials depicting an allegory from Greek mythology: the labyrinth. It is the result of the contrast between jade and a plate outlined in white gold, a reminder that the labyrinth is about more than finding the right path – its true value lies in the quest itself.
The dial of the Toric Quaestor Labyrinth is composed of two layers, the contrast between which forms the labyrinth. The bottom layer is a disc of Burmese jade, onto which an openworked white gold plate is superimposed to form the branching passages of the labyrinth. Initially machined on numerically controlled machines, this plate undergoes a finishing process requiring more than 35 hours of work on 52 internal angles that accentuate the depth and beauty of the labyrinth.
The chimes of the Toric Quaestor Labyrinth are known as "cathedral" chimes as they form two sets of gongs around the case. This produces a much higher quality sound compared to a single gong. The minute repeater sounds the hours, quarter-hours and minutes in a fluid sequence thanks to the movement's regulating flywheel, which is a brand new development in the Haute Horlogerie sphere. The exceptional sound of the Toric Quaestor Labyrinth's two gongs is amplified by the platinum case, whose ample size is designed to optimise the acoustics.
The distinguishing feature of the Toric family is the bezel, whose double alternating gadroons and knurling make it instantly recognisable. This knurling is created at the watchmaking centre by a craftsman, who spreads the material using a roller that leaves its imprint in the metal. This craftsman has produced every knurled bezel in the Toric family since the brand was founded. Each knurled pattern produced in the workshop is unique – just like each Toric.
Hand-wound, minute repeater & power reserve movement
The PF357 movement has a minute repeater with cathedral chimes which sounds the hours, quarter-hours and minutes on two gongs. A flywheel ensures that the mechanism operates silently, so that the only sound is the melodious chime each time the gong is struck. The finest Haute Horlogerie finishes are of the essence on this exceptional movement, which features Côtes de Genève-decorated rhodium-plated bridges and hand bevelling that produces stunning light effects on each surface.
