A chronograph and a tourbillon – the quintessence of Haute Horlogerie

Added to Parmigiani Fleurier's Haute Horlogerie collection in 2009, the Tondagraphe celebrates the complex pairing of a chronograph and a tourbillon within the same calibre. These two complications, which are very difficult to combine, are fundamental in measuring the time and lend the Tondagraphe its power.

The chronograph complication

The Tondagraphe has a chronograph module that measures time intervals to the nearest quarter of a second. The large second is centrally positioned, as on all classic timepieces, and the 30-minute counter is located at 3 o'clock for at-a-glance legibility.

The 60-second tourbillon

The tourbillon appears at 6 o'clock, where it stands out from the dial thanks to its captivating oscillations. It is, in itself, a genuine feat of craftsmanship: its two bridges require 20 hours of bevelling work, while the artisan finish on the cage takes 40 hours.

A timeless watch

The Tondagraphe's design speaks to a desire for clarity and a return to the essential. The understated and elegant numerals make it easy to read, while the two second and minute chronometer counters stand opposite each other in the centre of the dial. At 12 o'clock, the power reserve echoes the decoration seen on the tourbillon and reveals the barrel. These functions are highlighted by a snailed opaline dial which adds a touch of dynamism to this classic watch.

PF354

Hand-wound, tourbillon, chronograph

The PF354 movement, produced entirely in-house, contains no fewer than 295 components and has a power reserve of 72 hours. Its value can be appreciated in the minute details of its decoration, and reflects the degree of excellence upheld by the Parmigiani Fleurier watchmaking centre. The bevelling of the tourbillon bridge and the circular graining on the barrel are both visible. Each calibre bears the inimitable hallmark of originality conferred by the craftsman's hand.
