An intimate ritual
In 2011, the prestigious collection of movements entirely developed by the Parmigiani Fleurier manufacture was enriched by a Retrograde Annual Calendar. Whereas the date is automatically adjusted based on the number of days in the month — 30 or 31 — the Tonda Quator works on the basis of 29 days for February, whether or not it is a leap year. This means that, three out of every four years, the wearer renews their relationship with the mechanism of their watch, manually adjusting the date at the end of February in an intimate ritual which underlines the beauty of this complication.
On the Tonda Quator, the date — from 1 to 31 — is indicated by a hand on the retrograde sector on the outside of the dial. Appreciated for the clarity of its progression, the precision moon developed in the Parmigiani Fleurier workshops completes the indications of this Calendar model. It requires just one correction every 120 years, and helps reduce the discrepancy between a classic lunar cycle (29 days and 12 hours) and the actual lunar cycle (29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.8 seconds).
In silver or anthracite grey, the dial of the Tonda Quator is beautifully decorated with a grained or barley pattern, with a black or silver opaline flange.
