It is reason to be doubly proud. The Tonda Chronor Anniversaire and the Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde, two Parmiginani Fleurier models were honoured at the Geneva Grand Prix d’Horlogerie, this past 8 November.
The Tonda Chronor Anniversaire was recognised for its innovative strength. As Michel Parmigiani, moved by these awards, explains, “Our Hémisphères complication is a world first, inspired by a piece we restored. And our first integrated chronograph is the expression of a watch manufacture on the leading edge. These two timepieces embody compelling brand messages and I see it as wonderfully symbolic that they are now forever connected in this way”.

In its rose gold case with the iconic knurled bezel of the Toric series, this timepiece contains a new mechanism called Hémisphères Rétrograde. Inspired by a design of days gone by – an old pocket watch with two movements in the same case, restored by his workshops – Michel Parmigiani came up with a GMT complication with a single calibre governing two time zones, with to-the-minute accuracy by virtue of a module indexed to the main movement. Two indicators signal the day/night change, while a third central hand shows the days of the month. To ensure the multiple indicators are easy to read, great thought went into the hands’ material and luminosity. A harmonious model with a remarkable technical design that respects the proportions of the golden ratio.
