With its rectangular shape known as the "tonneau", the Kalpa is the iconic watch of the Parmigiani Fleurier collection and underlies the brand's entire aesthetic. Michel Parmigiani started to design the Kalpa from the side view. To draw the teardrop-shaped contours of the lugs, he relied on the golden ratio and natural proportions of the Fibonacci sequence. Once the design of the profile was complete, the front-facing tonneau shape of the case middle naturally followed. Ever since, this immediately recognisable profile has been found on all of the brand's watches and is the distinctive feature and keystone of every creation.
The Kalpa collection is made up of a vast range of models, including grand complications such as the chronograph, the minute repeater or the 30-second tourbillon, which rotates twice a minute.
